Therapeutic Day School

We are a best match for middle school and high school students identified as: Asperger Syndrome, Bipolar Disorder, or PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder)-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS) category of neurologically-based disorders that have a range of disorders.

A middle school student enters the Therapeutic Day School Program, most likely in crisis, having extended absences from school, and/or complex learning issues. The CLU staff uses a relationship-based approach to teach children emotional skills. This is quite different from the typical behavior modification approach used by the vast majority of schools and programs for children with ASD. The focus is primarily on "affective education" because the primary deficit in ASD is difficulty engaging in truly warm and reciprocal relationships with others.
